Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety non- non-partisan, nonprofit, member-supported public interest organization that promotes Traffic and Safety issues by influencing public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral. A community organization dedicated to providing a central place to review Park Ridge Traffic and Safety issues with its citizens and their elected Representatives and City's management. To practice and promote the responsible use of our roads, traffic systems and resources. To educate and enlist citizens to protect and restore the quality of our auto and pedestrian traffic as one of our cherished human environments in Park Ridge. CORRECTS - Citizens Organized for Reasonable Routes Enhancing Community Traffic & Safety believes that citizen's pedestrian safety, auto safety and reasonable routes comes first in city traffic. That before adding a traffic signal or traffic signals which generates slow traffic, bumper-to-bumper traffic, traffic gridlock, traffic complaints, traffic crashes, traffic signs, traffic bottleneck, automobile traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper traffic, traffic congestion, rush hour traffic and automobile traffic, that a Park Ridge Alderman and/or Park Ridge Aldermen, should require a traffic study to avoid this auto traffic scenario in Park Ridge, Illinois. Only reasonable auto traffic should be permitted to provide reasonable routes with traffic safety and avoid traffic accidents, traffic injuries, pedestrian injuries, auto accidents, traffic problems, which will also decrease pedestrian traffic in Park Ridge and thus negatively affect retail sales and our quality of life. We encourage Park Ridge citizens to register and for all voters to vote only for a Park Ridge Alderman / Park Ridge Aldermen Park Ridge Mayor that promises to ensure Reasonable Routes and City Traffic Safety. Today’s Park Ridge City Policy of waiting for citizens to first be injured, maimed and dead, while creating a serious crisis of traffic congestion, in traffic routes and hurting existing retail businesses, is unacceptable. CORRECTS holds itself out as an Open Forum to provide an opportunity for citizens and organizations to inform the public of events, issues or projects. This will allow you to report anything you wish to see addressed or answered regarding traffic anywhere in Park Ridge. Your input on this issue if vital to all of us. The City to Fight, Rather Than Continue Progress Underway

Rather Than Keep Traffic Promises, PRC & City Gamble It All

Although the Mayor and city was offered either a binding traffic study or better Target Area 2 (TA2) Traffic Plan to avoid any Uptown Redevelopment delays weeks ago, apparently the City and PRC rather keep a bad plan and gamble the entire future of any further Uptown viability. They will risk it all on winning at their next court hearing. If they lose, the entire process (excluding the facade as its contract stands on its own) will need to start over and have to accept the responsibility for both the delays, changes or action PRC might possibly take (i.e. walking away).

Reportedly, Mayor Frimark has not addressed any council members on quick and easy solutions, nor has the City Manager or City Attorney.

The City's partnership (and liability to PRC) looks as if it should expire July 5th or earlier depending on what the judge rules in the case. While this would then allow the city to renegotiate, renegotiations should have been under way long ago, political promises kept and these costs and delays avoided.

The current traffic plan for Uptown is predicated exclusively upon the traffic that exists today and what is being built by PRC. No capacity was provided for the future TIF areas or other Uptown areas currently being discussed and considered and for adding new residents and shoppers expected both in the near and long term. Northwest highway and Touhy are going to be at the maximum traffic they can bare (a “F” rating) with out additional traffic capabilities to add redevelopment in Uptown. Thus our hopes for Uptown will not be realized. Additionally, it is unsafe and will further slow down commutes into Uptown. The Developer and the City can make Uptown faster and better.

All citizens of Park Ridge ought to be concerned by their motivations, methods, and results of the application of tradition, governance, and the law in Park Ridge.

This is about the reasonable expectations of citizens, including their health and safety.  The “rush to judgment” by the corporate authorities of Park Ridge and from a time-dependent profit motive of a developer, have left all of us unnecessarily exposed to traffic jams, harm and future economic opportunities and costs.

Those having a direct political and financial stake have chosen. You decide if it was wisely or poorly.

Cordially,
